In the Sheba Mind Manifesto we discuss how trauma effects our mind and how to over come adversities to achieve that balance. In the body Manifesto we discuss the importance of exercise and proper nourishment to achieve the Mind, Body, Spirit alignment. The Sheba lifestyle.
To achieve The Mind, Body, Spirit alignment it is crucial that you honor your body with a consistent workout regime or some consistent form of movement. For those of you who don’t particularly like to workout. It’s essential to embrace commitment. Be open to the process of complete change. Be conscious of what you put in our body and commit to healthy exercise routine. The results can alter your life for the better. But consistent dedication must be taken seriously and become part of your daily life.
Let’s start by listing the positive effects for a peak physical body allowing the Mind, Body, Spirt alignment.
Optimal Oxygen Intake: To achieve Proper oxygen intake the focus is on the depth rather than the rate of each breath you take. Learning proper breath technique will increase your bodies oxygen intake. It’s one of the best ways to enhance physical and emotional balance for optimal health. Being conscious of breath while working out has immediate health benefits. Your heart rate and circulation increases delivering blood to muscle an organs. It jump starts metabolism and burns calories to support weight loss.
Improve Mood: Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals.
Endorphins: Are only one of many neurotransmitters released when you exercise. Physical activity also stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. The release of these brain chemicals help diminish depression, anxiety and improve memory, thinking skills and a sense of mental well being which supports the mind, body, spirit balance.
ENERGY: By strengthening the body and increasing circulation researchers have found that not only will your energy level increase but it’s also a great way to fight fatigue. Build Muscle, Anti aging, Improve sleeping, Controls weight, Strengthening bones and increases Self confidence.
Adverse effects: Lack of exercise can cause a plethora of health issues that could potentially arise if we chose not to exercise our body. Research has shown a lack of exercise can cause organ malfunction, obesity, leading to aliments such as diabetes or hypertension. Heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, strokes and depression. just to name a few. So it goes without saying…WE MUST GET MOVING!!!!
Procrastinator??? I hear you!!! Need not fret.
For those of you who don’t particularly like the traditional workout methods and contemplating this change but not sure how to initiate. Here are some creative ideas to GET YOU MOVING!!!
A simple walk in nature. Have a pet? take them with you. The first step to the Mind, Body, Spirt connection starts with getting in touch with nature. While walking be aware of breath, take deep cleansing breath holding and exhaling slowly with control of repetition. The goal is to hold breath long enough to expand lungs, start with a count of five then exhale slowly with control of release. You will build momentum and find your comfort zone. The effect Is like opening a window allowing fresh air in to cleanse and rejuvenate the body and mind which increase oxygen flow
*Hiking: Local parks, trails and countrysides. Known also as vigorous walking. Again getting out in nature is a great way to start the alignment process. If your attempting for the first time its important to get a thorough check up before starting any form of extensive exercise regime.
*Biking: Remember the freedom as a young child hopping on your bike for the simple pleasure of just doing so? Tapping back into the simplicity of life is the very essences of the Mind, Body, Spirit alignment.
*Yoga: There are different forms of yoga.. all of which are beneficial. A quick google search for yoga studios in your area will help you decide the style of yoga thats right for you. I suggest taking a few different classes. They are all unique and offer different set of goals depending on your personal needs.
*Pilates: A great non-evasive workout designed to improve strength, build muscle and flexibility, also improves mental awareness.
*Dance: Provides both cardio and strength building. Not to mention flexibility and balance. ballroom, ballet, jazz, tap are just a few ideas.
Joining a club or team, sports, tennis, softball, volleyball, badminton, swimming.
all are great forms of entertainment while embracing physical fitness, building the Mind, Body, Spiritual connection.
These are just a few non traditional workout methods to help motivate your path of alignment. The goal is to find a physical outlet you actually enjoy doing,
eliminating the mind set of being a chore and embracing it as part of your daily lifestyle.
Simply put embrace movement embrace love of self
Diet: Healthy eating habits aren’t as challenging or restrictive as one might think. Here are some basic guidelines to help navigate the process.
*Embracing a plant based diet. Eating more fruits and veggies. Whole grains, beans, Quinoa, wheatgrass to substitute meat proteins. enjoy more Fish, nuts and avocados. All are a great source of healthy unsaturated fats.
*Avoid Saturated fats. Avoiding Saturated fats found in animals supports lowering your LDL cholesterol.
*Being mindful of Portion control. Using smaller size plates and avoiding second helpings.
*Eliminate Processed food from your diet such as refine sugars, enriched flour, candy, cakes and fast food.
*Organic: Eating organic foods often have more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, than their counterparts. people with allergies to foods, chemicals, or preservatives find their symptoms lessen or go away when they eat only organic foods.
*Organic farming practices: Supporting organic farming reduces pollution, conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and uses less energy. Organic farming (Non pesticide) is also better for wild life as well as people who live in surrounding areas to farms.
*Alcohol pros and cons: Moderate consumption of alcohol has its health benefits raising our High-density lipoprotein (HDL= good cholesterol) protecting us from heart disease. The antioxidants found in alcohol can have a variety of health benefits potentially lengthening our life span. BUT!! The key is in moderation. Research has shown excessive alcohol consumption disrupts the brain Changing mood and behavior. Affects our heart, liver, pancreas, not to mention attacks on our immune system compromising our bodies ability to protect against disease
Simply put Change your eating change your lifestyle.
How we chose to show up in our lives embracing life from a Balanced perspective starts with respecting self.. Our Body, Our Mind, Our Spiritual connection.
Embrace the day to day responsibilities with passion and desire. A great example, the way we chose to nourish our bodies and the simple process of preparing a meal. Cooking is an art form, an expression of love to self and the ones we are responsible for. Encouraging family to participate in the process of preparing a meal together. Start with proper food preparation, setting the table with good tableware in lieu of paper plates. Add a beautiful bouquet of flowers, candle light and Soft music instead of tv or just opening up dialogue as way to check in with each other. Life is as complicated as we make it. Yes, life is busy and full and at times overwhelming. Perhaps quality time spent is limited to a weekend night. Making time spent with loved ones and putting forth effort to create a beautiful setting can become a part of your routine. Not only can it shift your Mind, Body, Spirit connection into alignment but also could set the premise for tradition and generational repetition
